Burgers are great! But what if they're made from plants?
It's no secret that hamburgers are a national passion, right?
The official history of the Hamburger begins in 1904, in the United States, when the product was presented to the public at the World's Fair in Saint Louis, capital of Missouri.
Since then, this simple delight has undergone evolutions – and revolutions – and the most recent of these is the Plant Based movement.
But Arnaldo, is it possible to have a plant-based burger? Yes, you can!
Whether made with soy, peas, or chickpeas, plant-based burgers aren't just for vegans or vegetarians. Put aside your prejudices and try this delicious burger. You might be surprised!
So, make the most of your weekend and literally get your hands dirty... oops, the plant! We're sharing the recipe with you now!
Falafel Burger
500 g chickpeas
1 medium onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons of coriander
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon baking powder
8 hamburger buns
500 ml corn oil for frying
Dry curd and fried onion
500 g dry curd
50 g mint
4 medium onions
salt to taste
enough oil for frying
Preparation Method – Falafel Burger
Soak the chickpeas for 12 hours. Drain the soaking water and add the onion, garlic, parsley, and cilantro. Process everything, leaving the dough with a more rustic texture. Add the spices, salt, and yeast. Shape into balls of approximately 180g, then carefully flatten into a burger shape. Fry in hot oil (180°C) for a few minutes, until the dough turns a dark green color. Be careful not to let it get too dark. Drain on a paper towel.
Preparation Method – Dry curd and fried onion
Wash and finely chop the mint. Mix with the dry curd and season with salt. Finely julienne the onion. Fry in hot oil, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Drain the onion on a paper towel.
To serve
Split the burger bun in half and heat. Place a heaping tablespoon of curd on the bottom of the bun. Place the falafel burger on top. Spread two heaping tablespoons of curd over the burger. Top with a handful of fried onions. Top with the remaining half of the bun and serve.
