Women in menopause: demystifying this period

Menopause is a natural process that marks the end of a woman's reproductive years. It usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, but each woman's pace varies. During this period, the ovaries reduce their production of hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, which can lead to a range of symptoms and challenges.

According to research conducted by Gen M, a British organization whose mission is to make menopause a more positive experience for all women, a surprising 48 symptoms associated with this period were identified, in addition to the more well-known ones, such as hot flashes, migraines and gastrointestinal disorders.

However, according to pharmacist Natalia Niedermayer Wagner, responsible for Technical Service and New Business Development for the IFF Health team for Latin America, despite the high number, the wide range of symptoms creates 48 opportunities to help and support women in menopause to have a better quality of life.

The study conducted by Gen M indicated that by 2025, the number of women in menopause will reach one billion, making this a vast and diverse population. Given this, there is an opportunity to develop new strategies and solutions to help women navigate this phase in the best possible way.

Challenges in women's journey through menopause

This topic remains taboo for many people, leaving many women feeling unprepared as they enter perimenopause, the initial phase before menopause. Of the 48 symptoms identified, most women can only name the most common ones, such as hot flashes, insomnia, and mood swings. This reveals a significant gap in awareness on the topic.

The lack of information creates even more difficulties for those already experiencing this period. Some menopausal women visit their doctor several times before receiving adequate guidance about their symptoms, causing even more difficulty, loneliness, and stress.

Care and attention needed for women in menopause

Women yearn for products that improve their quality of life during menopause. They desire natural solutions and prefer to avoid hormone therapies due to concerns about adverse effects.

One way to achieve this is to develop specific dietary supplements for healthy women who will go through this natural phase.

Every woman is unique, and their experiences with menopause vary greatly. Therefore, solutions must be personalized and address specific symptoms. Furthermore, it's crucial to change the stereotypes associated with menopausal women so they can make informed decisions about their health.

Therefore, the market for specific dietary supplements for women in menopause is promising, with an audience interested in health and quality of life.

Education, awareness, and authentic communication are key to supporting women at this stage of life. Furthermore, an emphasis on preventative health and self-care is essential for healthy aging.
